All stupid responses aside. this could be a great little makeover for you. This is what I suggest you do. Go to a top salon, when making your appt. request no less than a master stylist, I mean you do not want someone who has just come off the floor and tested. Any way they are worth the money, and will give you a consultation, look at some pictures, and take them with you, he or she will talk it over with you and select the proper cut for you hair, and they should tell you what you need to know to keep the style up. Best of luck, and I know your new style will be beautiful.

If you hair is long - get a long layer - that will take away some of the heaviness and provide more body... give it a try - if you don't like it - it is long layers so it should grow back out quickly. You can still pull it up, tuck it behind your ears etc.

Your mom and aunt are right! Sometimes you have to let your hair down so it could "breathe" and be free from any chemicals.
Try having your hair layered because it won't look puffy if you say you feel that your hair is "heavy."

If you dont want to cut your hair altogether, just look for other ways of doing your hair, you can accesorize using headbands (they are totally coming back in style), you can buy some pretty clips and just keep the hair off your face and still have it down, You can do some kind of a twist on your pony tail or part your hair to one side instead of slicking it all back.

Whatever you're comfy with! If you want to wear it down, and the only reason you don't is because it feels heavy then listen to your mom. Having it cutt a little will take some weight off.
