The only thing I can suggest is warm them ahead of time - often the cold is what they object to most. My mom told me to warm the drops and put them in the ears while my daughter was sleeping - but I have always been afraid to try that, lest I wake the finally sleeping kid.
Peace!

I suppose it might be like putting on eyeliner. I get freaked when anyone else tries to do it for me. Maybe you should show your son what to do and allow him to place the ear drops in. It will give him confidence in himself also. My brother has the same problem, but he's aged 11. He is fine doing it on his own, but freaks when we try. We bought him something called Audiclean from a local chemist. Its similar to the eardrops, only it's a spray with a small nosel attached. You just press the button and it releases a short spray into the ear cannal. You may use it on anyone aged from 6 months & up. My brother finds this quite entertaining...lol...but small things amuse small minds :P I hope this helps. I have attached a link with a picture of the product

Oh boy do I hear you. Some ideas - warm the bottle by holding between hands or keeping in pocket - cold in ear = ouch. if your drops are not pain drops, ask your doctor to prescribe numbing drops and give them first. Call a local ear nose throat doctor's office for more ideas. Try telling him the medicine is hunting for the bad germs that are harming his ear. Try letting him practice with an eye dropper and a baby doll. Talk to him abt it - at this age, your son, like my daughter, needs easy to understand concrete reasons for things. I usually explain what needs to be done, let her practice, then have her lay across my lap. I let her count 2 three before i instill drops - and then tell or read a story while i wait until the drops were in long enough. then we flip and reeat. Now, any help getting her to take her oral medicines, esp icky antibiotics, would be a help to me! Good luck!

Do it when he is sleeping.
If the drops are 3 times a day or something like that, you will have to struggle with him although I wouldn't.
I am sure there are other types of anti biotics which can be given to beat the infection without having to traumatise your son.

Lay him on his side, hold him for awhile to calm him down. Warm the bottle first in hot water. Grab the top of the ear gently, and move it forward to straighten out the ear canal. Hold the drop above the ear canal ... don't have to jam it down there, and drop it in. Continue holding the ear so to give the med a chance to run down.

don't drop it directly into the ear canal, but instead have him lay in your lap drop the ear drop close to the canal and let the drop roll in. Many times ear drops hurt because of the pressure created by adding the drop right in and there is no way to alleviate the pressure. By rolling the drop into the ear this can be avoided

You could try buying some saline drops from your chemist and letting your son put some in your ears first. Tell him you've got poorly ears too so you can make each other better, when he puts them in yours laugh and tell him it tickles then tell him how much better they are making you feel.

Show him some on his finger and bribe him with whatever he likes. I've had ear problems. Does it stem for second hand smoke. If you smoke around him stop.
