At that time of year (and I did visit England while stationed overseas) .. it is blustery .. so you will need a coat/sweaters, and mostly comfortable long-sleeve shirts. I suggest that you wear jeans and walking shoes (I did a LOT of walking around to take photos of sites), and I did take a LOT of photos. I also packed one of the compact folding umbrellas in my backpack (and used the backpack extensively going place to place) just in case.

In February, London is likely to be pretty chilly and rain showers will be frequent... there might even be a little snow if the forecasters have it right.
Fashion-wise, London is a pretty eclectic place so where whatever you're comfortable with. Jeans, sweaters and sneakers are perfectly acceptable.
If you're concerned to know what people are wearing at the moment, why not check out some of the online department stores... I'm not sure of your age so have taken a guess with the links below.
If you're eating out in the evening then you would dress up a bit more.
Just take an umbrella and comfortable shoes for walking, hopping on the tube etc. Layers are probably a good idea so that you can wrap up when outside and take stuff off when you're on the tube or in a shopping mall or visitor attraction.
It never gets as cold in London as it does in the countryside, but that wind can certain whip round the buildings!

You've already been advised to dress in layers. That's the key. I've been to London more than 10 times, I typically visit in early Spring.
Fashions are usually similar - some differences but not enough to worry about! You'll find many of the same shops in the trendy districts: H&M, GAP, Mangos, Banana Republic...
You may want to take a couple of dressier things in case you decide to splurge on a nice club or restaurant. In an unrelated note, check out the Top 10 London guide from DK Eyewitness series. It's a great guide and it's small enough to tuck away in most handbags!
Also, check out the www.VisitLondon.com website for fun ideas and money saving tips. Have a great trip...

You will need a good coat and several sweaters. You will want to layer your clothing just ot be comfortable. Jeans work nices and dockers or khaki slacks offer the most comfort for the least amount of fuss. You will need comfortable walking shoes and a day bag to carry around your important stuff. The sweatshirts and sweaters will be great layered on top of a thin long sleeved blouse. Don't want space on short sleeved stuff unless you intend to sleep in it.
Have lots of fun and take tons of pictures - Take the Harrod's tea bus up to Windsor castle!!

Greetings - Patrick from footprintsdownunder.com here again, I would suggest Cortex it maybe slightly expensive around $650 AU but they are light wind proof water proof (you need this in the UK) I can not say the fashions are the same as the US but defiantly similar Europe fashion tends to be quite woolly and scarf a good look.
Pack warm socks warm gloves you are going in February Brrrrrr Take a hat, scarf and a funky pair of boots.
Much help can be found at footprintsdownunder and you can submit your questions there as well.
Patrick is from Devon in the UK originally but at the moment in Australia -

I live in Wales, and I can tell you that it's absolutely POURING down all over Britain. Bad storms are wreaking HAVOC, power down in hundreds of thousands of homes and today 10 people killed due to weather. I'm sorry but those nasty weather people have predicted SNOW for Feb... Fashionwise, it's gotta be WATERPROOF. Can I come and live with you please????????

I'd agree with the person who said bring comfy shoes. Unlike fat lazy yanks, us Brits don't park right outside the shops, we have a thing called "pavements" we use them for walking on. You've been warned. Also forget the tea bus that's rubbish. If you're in London have tea at either the Ritz or Browns. Cocktails used to be good at Dukes bar, but I've not been for a couple of years.
