Son ages 3 - has EyeDrops for ear infection.

Having massive trouble giving them.

Gets really scared & throws a fit - when i try to put them in his ears.

Always ends in tears & having him held down.

place the bottle in a dish of warm water. and then cuddle your child, maybe share a few giggles. and then get out the drops. they feel weird going in. maybe try to make a game at it, like it 'tickles'. maybe giggles will help describe the weird feeling your child is experiencing.

My 19 month old son just got over pink eye and of course the drops that go with it. NO young child is going to cooperate with eye drops or ear drops for that matter. This is what I do and I am sure someone out there will have a fit but too bad.. it works and my kids all still love me. LOL

I sit on the floor, I lay my son with his head between my legs and place my legs over his arms to pin him down. I give the drops and then I hold him till he settles down. I have done this when I had to suck out their noses with the bulb syringe too. I know with ear drops he needs to lie in the "head turned position" for a few minutes so the drops don't flow out but if you add a few more drops then called for and put a cotton ball or ear plugs into his ears for awhile, that will work very well.

Good Luck.

Put the container of ear drops in a bowl of warm water (making sure the top is above water to prevent the water from getting into the eardrops). The ear drops will not be as annoying if they are warm.

Also you might want to consider letting him but them in your ear first. (Or other ear drops. Just buy some plain saline solution from the drugstore it is safe and cheap and it doesn't matter if he spills it)

My daughter was ear infection city at that age, i used to swaddle her in a big towel so i had better control, and doesn't seem as harsh as trying to hold them down while they are kicking and screaming, it kinda took the fight out of it. hope it helps.
