Offer to help them, but never pressure them b/c they don't want to hear it and will push you out of their lives.Simply say your there if they want/need help!

No amount of talk will mean anything as long as the person is doing drugs because the person's brain is affected by the drugs he or she is ingesting. The person must see the consequences. As it was, when the choice to take drugs was made, there was not a sufficient loss to make the drug use a bad choice. People who quit drugs are those who realized that the drug use led to losing enough things that the work of not taking drugs became worth the effort.
You can continue caring for the person, but stop giving them anything: time, attention, money (especially money), anything that the drug-wiped brain might misinterpret as a reward for inappropriate behavior.

You can't get an addict to stop if they do not want to. The best thing is not to enable them ... i.e. keep their using a secret, making excused for their behavior, etc.

You don't give much information, so it is hard to say. If you are in a relationship, tell the person the relationship is "on hold" unless they get some help.

Be available to them only when they take positive steps to get help. However, keep in mind the addict is in "love" with his/her drug of choice. And until THEY make up their mind to acknowledge they have a problem and need help .. there isn't much you can do but wait and support their POSITIVE non-using choices.

Tell them that your are concerned and that you want them to seek help. Tell them that you will be there for them and mean it. There is nothing else you can do. Usually people using drugs eventually hit rock bottom and decide they need help on their own. At this time they will remember the people that extended their hand to them and seek out true friends. By the way, never help them financially but only as emotional support.

well, you can ask them to stop or beg them to stop... but they will only do what they want to do in the long run.. you can be supportive by going to meetings with them, or keep them so distracted with other things that they dont even notice that they havent done drugs... and depending on the type of drugs they are doing (addictive or just recreational), will make a difference on whether they can quit by themself or not... they may need help.. or they may hate you for asking them to stop.. that is a toughy!

If this person wants to stop, that's when you can help. If they don't, you can't.

If they want to stop, send them here to listen to how they can support their body when quitting drugs. There is a way to lower ones cravings for drugs and alcohol... http://www.glycostory.com/mannalive

Encourage the person to go to rehab . If the person will not listen to you, you will have to do the hardest thing any love one has to do but to report the person in order for them to receive help. Tell a trustworthy individual whom you know can handle the situation well.

GOOD LUCK !!!!

You can't. Trying an intervention it may help. Don't give them any attention that is unnecessary. They must be forced to fend for themselves until they show real progress in quitting.

well, dont be too harsh. if they are on drugs, they will not be themself! dont let them hurt you or take advantage of you, because sadly, they may change if they are getting really into it. The only way to really do it is to admit them into rehab.
