The most accurate in English is the King James Bible...but there is so very much more to the Bible than just studying it...much of all Bibles has been mis-translated over the years so it doesn't say what it originally did. Much has been changed to suit the political/ religious climate of the time. The church and commentaries have so twisted the scriptures and teachings that they make many incorrect and even right down false teachings.

the only real way to study the Bible is to read it in the Hebrew and Greek versions...those are the only really close to reliable versions...then you also have to believe in the Word before it will make any since to you....Just to pick up a Bible and say I am going to use it for study will never get the true meaning through to you...It is a very simple but complex book....

I can give you some help in some areas if you care to e mail me.

Are you being asked to study a religious book, or a Bible specifically? If you can choose any religious book, from any religion, I recommend making your project stand out by choosing something from a less popular religion. You'll get a much better grade than you would by choosing the same subject as everyone else. I suggest the Principia Discordia. It's available online, in html and pdf formats, and a quick Google search will turn up few dozen good results.

The Bible is the Bible is the Bible.

As for version, I currently the Amplified Bible. It is a direct translation from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek and written to include as many meanings for the words in their context as possible. I like the clarity.

As for an easier read, the NIV and other versions are fine.

The Thompson chain reference has appendices that tell you what happened to the 12 disciples after Christ. Of the 12, only 1 (John) died of natural causes. Judas Iscariot hanged himself, and the rest were martyred (murdered, died) for their beliefs in different places around the globe. But it was the strength of their story that spread like wildfire amongst the masses and it changed the world!

You could choose the Jewish version of the Bible. It has five books in the Old Testament that the Christians have removed because they don't agree with Christian theology.

What ever you do, choose a religious text that isn't well known. You will get a better grade, learn more, and get more out of it. Remember, you don't have to believe in a thing to understand it.

Other religious texts to think about:
Aztec: Popul Vu
Hindu: Ayruveda (spelling is wrong, sorry)
Shinto: Don't know the name of the book, sorry
Budhism: ??

i think of they are the two as exciting. technological know-how is a could understand for each guy or woman. scientific awareness is crucial for our very own survival. yet once you do no longer understand your Bible, you omit out on limitless references in different literature, music, and flicks. All mythology is referenced everywhere you seem. you only don't get it otherwise. So I be taught the Bible and that i save it on a shelf next to my organic reference books. i could have self assurance what one says and luxuriate in the different.

If it has to be a bible, talk about the Jefferson bible. If it's just a religious book, one of the gnostic gospels (Mary, Thomas, or the new Judas translation) might be interesting.

I would say the King James Version if you want to do an English version. It has quite a history.

If you go on line you can probably find the whole story about it, quite interesting...

Good Luck & God Bless !

I value the King James Version.
I also like the Strong's Concordance and my copy of the Greek Textus Receptus.
