I've flown to China twice.
Flying direct from Heathrow to Shanghai with Virgin Atlantic took 12 hours.
Flying with a change in Frankfurt with Lufthansa took 14 hours.

Eleven and a half to twelve and a half hours if you fly direct. If you take more than one aeroplane it could potentially go on for another half a day. You have to get landing permission, then hang about in the airport for the connecting plane, the length of time varies considerably and you'd need to check it out by beginning a booking with an online company that does such flights to find out how long it would take. Me, I fly direct. I normally find it's cheaper when booking in advance.
