Not always accurate, but plausible. Atmospheric pressure changes when rain is coming. If you have arthritis, or sometimes an old injury, this pressure will sometimes be noticable in the afflicted areas of the body.

Arthritis sufferers can often tell when the weather is going to change........my kids ask me all the time what is going to happen in the next day or two, I'm right 95% of the time. My joints start aching real bad and I feel "heaviness" around my lower back. People have said this for years, funny that people are making such a big deal about it now, in the past, the people didn't have the word for the condition, so they'd say "my bones are aching, must be gonna rain".

When it's about to rain, the barometric pressure changes. This can cause pressure changes in the tissues around joints. Most people with arthritis feel this because those joints are already worn down.
