Not at all. China will be just as belligerent, arrogant, and imperialistic as the United States now is. The Chinese government actually seems to enjoy suppressing people (e.g., Tibet), bullying democratic, sovereign nations (e.g., Taiwan), and hiding health dangers from their own people (e.g., HIV) and the world (e.g., SARS, bird flu). Despicable regime.

China will be A superpower, not THE superpower. Let me explain....
China does have anti-satellite weaponry but so do we. America has ground based lasers that is said to be an observatory tool but also doubles as a laser that can fry satellites in orbit. Aside from all of the military stuff, China has so many domestic problems already, environmental and the ability to provide for a BILLION people. Also, their one party system is rife with corruption as well and they have to contend with a growing intellectual and free citizenry. (They don't like to be censored all that much) Also, their military needs major upgrading. As of now, they own the largest military museum in the world. Also, they have to contend with Japan and South Korea as well as Russia all in their own backyard.
I think that the world will not have one superpower but Several in the future.
The Chinese is more pragmatic in their policy. They will be friendly if they get what they want (More natural resources) and nobody gets in their way.

China seems to respond very much to outside influence. I think it is all going to depend on how nice we are to them before then.
However, due to historical conflict w/ Japan, I think that conflict will only further escalate. From the Nanking crisis of the 1930s and 40s, to Japan's current pressure on China, to Japan's distaste for China's industrialization, I think if anyone has to worry, it will be Japan.
Additionally, I think it will take quite some time for them to be strong in anything other than manpower. They are only just now industrializing, which the US and most of Europe were doing around the turn of the century into the 1900s. They have 100 years of catching up to do.

Yes, because the Christian population (underground church) is growing pretty rapidly. The gov. is trying keep a lid on things, but they won't be able to forever. Other than that, China will become a very hostile superpower, led by a generation of basically spoiled brats (only children, result of the one child policy).

No. Even now, it is not. For example, they held several of our servicemen/women literally hostage when their plane had an accidental landing in China. China kept them totally cut off from the rest of the world for many days. To top it, China even charged (and got) several milliong dollars as their boarding expenses !

China will never be a superpower. China is getting old faster than it's getting rich.

China has no neighbouring country that it could have called a friend. They have disputes with everyone around, trying to bully and blackmail. To become a friendly superpower - one has to establish good links with neigbours, learn how to forgive and how to be more self-critical and objective.

No, probably not. Since they are only allowing 1 child per family people are killing their daughters until they have a son to carry on their name. With a country full of men, and with few women to balance everything out, they are probably going to be aggressive.
