It is. You learn how to redirect energy, how to be sensitive TO that energy and how to control the flow of your own energy. The techniques are deceptively effective as they look effortless yet can disable large powerful attackers. It is one of the styles that was included is part of my trining and I had used some of its techinques a sfinishing moves on many occasions.

Aikido, like every other martial art, is a good martial art provided you find a good dojo at which to train.
Like every martial art, it has its strong points and its weak points. It depends on what you are looking for in a martial art.
This is really a vague question that depends a lot on the context in which you are asking.
Visit www.aikidofaq.com or www.aikidoonline.com if you would like to learn more about Aikido.

The martial art is only as good as the martial artist. Just like everything else in life, the more you put into it the more you get out of it. Aikido is difficult to master so many people like to claim it isn't a good art, but that is only because they haven't met a good Aikidoka. All martial arts are good, otherwise they wouldn't have survived. It is the practioner, not the style.

aikido is an awsome martial art. steven segal is an aikido master (thats just fyi). anyways aikido is a "soft" martial art which means that you don't use strenght but instead flexibility, coordination, agility and endurance. of course you still learn to strike but most technikes deal with choking, joint manipulations and stuff like that. i hope that helps!

Yes . If you become accomplished at it you can literally throw someone across a room with no effort . Aikedo is one of a couple Toaist martial arts . I am bias but I have also seen the results I took out seven meth heads without hurting them , just tossed them around into each other it was pretty funny , but seriously if you have an aikedo dojo in your area I highly recommend it

Yes it is,if your using it in conjunction with a good stand up style. You need to crosstrain so you can make yourself a well rounded ma.If you only do 1 style you will always have a vulnerability.
ummm, boxing is a ma you should know what your talking about before you make a foolish comment.

Yes. It is a good grappling style as long as you find a good instructo. It's not the art, it's the artist.
