I have mostly grey/blonde hair. Colored it light brown months ago and need to remove the remainder of it that is rather "orangey" now. Is it possible to do myself?

I have a hair license in Florida and trust me the only way to get rid of the orange is to use a colorant with a purple tone. I would not recommend doing this yourself. At best, if you use a clarifiying shampoo especially the one made by Matrix it may improve the tone. Anyone with white or grey hair will have problems because any color you apply will be watered down by your own natural color. Just like in school when you mix red and white you get pink. The same thing happens with hair. In the future if you do color on your own stick with blond tones they are safer with greys.

Wow. There are a lot of answers to your question that will do you absolutely no good! As a hair stylist, I've seen (and fixed) many problems similar to your own. If you go with anything that was recommended, such as lemon juice, "color remover", etc it is just as bad for your hair as using a bleach with any volume peroxide developer. What i CAN recommend, however, instead of trying to lighten the whole thing, you can get foil highlights put in in the top in a "mohawk" section, and a few in the sides to break up the color. and gradually putting more in to continue breaking up the color over time... Depending on how much hair you have, that should amount to about 8 foils on the top and 4 on either side. Or just weaving the very front inch around the hairline (2 foils)... If you have any questions Hun, feel free to contact me! But please please please do not try any home "remedies"!!!

You can buy some mousse for blondes at Boots and John Frieda has a good one too. They reduce the "orange" look and leave your hair shiny too.Good Luck.
