I have an itinery that will get me to San Francisco at 9:36am and then I have to catch a flight to Osaka, Japan at 11:23 (it departs at that timE). Both are united airlines but not at the same terminal. I have to go from Terminal 3 to Terminal I which is international terminal.
Thanks.

As long as your San Fran flight arrives on time, it's more than enough time. Honestly, if everything went smoothly, 45 minutes is enough time (but pushing it a little).

The bigger concern is coming home. If you take the same route home (via SFO), then you will have to do customs there. You have to go through the lines, pick up your bag, re-check it, and then go back through security. This can take a considerable amount of time, so be sure to plan accordingly. : )

From othe way it sounds you are probably taking either a United or Northwest Airlines flight. An hour and 45 minutes shouldn't be a probem. To me, that's a hell of a long time to connect.

Upon landing at Osaka, there will be a shuttle to take you to the boarding gate. The only thing that usually holds up the line at Japan's airports are the security checkpoints. Unlike getting connecting flights here in the US, Japanese Aviation Security require that you present your passports (again) and boarding pass as you cross or enter another terminal. Other than that you should be fine. I hate being stuck in airports like Japan for a long time where sodas are like $5 a piece (and that;s no joke...).

Hope this helps. Goodluck to you!

Yes, that's plenty of time. The airport isn't very big.
