They use the same Bible to go for or against....well you name it...gay marriage, drug use, empathy, war, abortion, politics, world hunger...blah blah blah...I find this practice diminishes the participants and, what's worse, fills believers with mis-information and toxic ideals...how is this practice possible and how is it condoned for people who profess their love for Man and the desire for Grace and Peace while they find it Okay to either blow people up (abortion clinics) or destroy positive family morals (judge not thy neighbor...nor molest his sons and daughters)? ***of course I am using vague and geralized examples for effect...not necessarily to point fingers

The bible is open to interpretation. That's why there are different Christian religions. It's like the story of the blind men describing an elephant based on what part they were touching.

Liberal Christians look at the Bible as a book of good suggestions, as well as of out-of-date rules. The things inside it that offend modern sensibilities can and should be changed/updated or ignored.

Conservative Christians look at the Bible as a book that should be taken seriously as the divine word of God, not subject to human diminishment, or change.

Also, liberal Christians tend to be focused on changing society by fighting against social injustice, while Conservative Christians are concerned with issues of morality. Both are important.

As you can see, divisiveness and working at cross-purposes is the norm, rather than the exception.

The message is love sometimes a no can be more full of love than a yes.
Besides that's only a problem for protestants because they all say they believe the bible and they interpret it in their own and very different ways.

You can support or oppose anything using the Bible if you are the only authority in interpreting it. That's why we have thousands of conflicting denominations, each claiming that their particular beliefs come "straight out of the Bible", while those whose beliefs are directly contradictory make exactly the same claim. And both of them will show you in the Bible just where they think their beliefs are supported. Which is why God gave us one Church with full authority to interpret its own writings. Which is why that one Church is united in beliefs and united in worship after 2,000 years, while manmade churches continue to fragment over disagreements on biblical interpretation.

Because the Bible is FULL of contradictions. Just a few of hundreds:

CREATION OF MAN AND BEAST: WHO CAME FIRST?
Gen 1:25-27 "And God made the beast of the earth [beast created first] . . .So God created man in his own image [man created second]"
Gen 2:18-19 "It is not good that the man should be alone [man created first]; I will make him an help meet for him. . . . And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field [beast created second]"

KILLING - NO OR YES?
Exodus 20:13 "Thou shalt not kill."
Exodus 32:27 " . . . slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour."

JESUS' LAST WORDS, BEFORE GIVING UP THE GHOST
Matthew 27:46 ". . . My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"
Luke 23:46 ". . . Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit . . . "
John 19:30 ". . . It is finished . . ."
