I have a problem. The state i live in won't let my daughter go to preschool because they say we make to much.So how can i trick her into learning with out her knowing? She won't listen to me but she will listen to the teachers when she was in school. So is there anything that will trick her into learning without her thinking she is?

Talk to her a lot - about everything.

Also, play word and number games that you make up. Say things like, "Oh - I love these flowers. Its nice how there are - let's see - one, two, three, four, five, six of them." Both of you can look for angles in things like the furniture legs. You can play word games by abbeviating words she knows well. I remember calling the Easter Bunny the "E Bunny" with one of my kids. I'd say "I'm going to order some peets" (short for pizza). Saying things like "E Bunny" and "S Clause" and "peets" helps them figure out the that letters stand for sounds and things such as "E" is only part of the word, "Easter".

You can play made-up word and number games any time you think of it. It can be part of your day, rather than, say, "Let's sit here and play word games for a hour." Young children like the silliness of making up words or doing counting games ("Here's 10 marbles. I'm going to take 2 of them away. How many now? Do you know?") Also, you play store or bank with your child and talk about dollars, quarters, nickles, etc.

If you provide her with activity books that have numbers or letters to color or cut out and let her have any activities/toys that encourage awareness of words and numbers. Puzzles will help her get in the habit of sitting down and doing "quiet work".

Sesame Street on tv, the occasional good learning video, some music for kids, and the occasional good computer software for young children (and with your help) are also decent ways of encouraging learning.

You can do small things like when you're folding laundry ask her if she can fold two facecloths or three facecloths for you. Help her count them out.

It's not about what you teach them. Take whatever your child is interested in and teach them that. At this age, they don't have to know the name of the color, just be able to match and sort the colors. If you want to work on letters. Try getting them the Leapfrog DVD series. My son had learned all his letters and their base sounds at an early age 3 because of the catchy song. He is now in Kindergarten and reading very well. Coloring and learning to manipulate things with their hands is important. Reading to them often is very important, but I assume you do this. Think about teaching your kids like watching teachers in school. Kids learn from catchy songs, and fun activities. I didn't worry about letter formation until he was older, but he could easily write all his letters by age 4. They also make stencils that are fun for the kids to practice their letters. My son liked this more than tracing the wipe off boards.

Find a preschool and pay for her to go there, it is worth the sacrifice. Preschool is important. It teaches your child valuable social skills and sets the tone for her entire school career.
Even if you put her in preschool, learning at home should never stop and it should always be fun. Doing puzzles, reading to her and reading to her again and then read to her again. Make up stories, even if they are silly (my daughter LOVES this!), playing games, coloring, have lots of play-dates with other children. Sing and play lots of music, play Sesame Street.com games with her (Elmo Keyboard is great for ABC's)...those are all learning. Do crafts projects together. When you take her to the store...if you pick out multiple items of anything (carrots, apples, yoghurt, etc.) have her help and count the numbers of items...or ask her to pick out five. Go thru the store and play a game (spot a letter in the alphabet). Make it fun and she'll soak it up like a sponge.

That does not make sense. Find a private pre-school and pay for her to attend. Play any kind of game. She will learn different things from different games. Sing lots of fun songs, like the alphabet. Read LOTS of books and ask her questions about the books. Take extra time on each page. Point out different objects on the page. Ask her to point out things. Word games are good. Memory games will definitely be good for her, too.

The best thing you can do for your little one is to teach her games and read read read to her. Play matching everything games (letters, colors, numbers etc). Do lots of art..you give her the medium (like paint or crayons be creative) and then let her go. Also you could do collages of letters numbers colors people. But mostly read to her You can sneak lots of information into her little brain just by reading to her. You pick a book she picks a book. and don't forget books on tape are great for going to bed and when she is just listening you can usually go up a couple of levels(like if she is 3 let her listen to Charlotte's web, maybe a bit old for her but when just listening it is fine) Good luck.

Well you have to find her weakness. When she is asking for something. I started with table mats and a dry erase. The ones that have Alphabet on one side and numbers on the other side. Then Dr. Seuss has some pre-school software that worked great. Now she has worked her way through the Jumpstart software all the way to second grade. I think software education is the wave of the future. No school bus to get hi-jacked, no school shootings, no teachers imposing their ideology on my kid.

Don't tell - Ask: Ask your daughter all sorts of questions. If her answers are 10% right or better, drop it. If her answer is totally wrong, start with the phrase ****** said that (-----) is why.

As children we think that those old people don't know how to live. There is little that they know that will really be important in life in the future. When "I grow up I don't want to be like them". Surprise, most of us grow up to be just like our parents. And those are the ones that are successful. The others, have a poor life or don't grow up at all.

Helping our children to learn, especially when they don't want to, is what parenting is all about.
Good luck

IF YOU KNOW ONE OF THE TEACHERS ASK THEM IF THEY CAN GIVE YOU A FEW POINTERS. AND I NEVER HEARD OF THAT BEFORE, THEY WON'T LET YOUR DAUGHTER GO TO PRE SCHOOL BECAUSE YOU MAKE TO MUCH.
