There are plenty of safe places to live in both Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills. Like living in any large metropolitan area, you need to be smart and excercise caution. If you are planning on renting an apartment, you might find little to choose from in the hills, as there are mostly houses there. These are some nice neighborhoods in the greater Hollywood area worth consideration: Fairfax/Beverly area, West Hollywood, Wilshire/Fairfax area and Miracle Mile. And further east there's Los Feliz, Franklin Hills and Silverlake. Beachwood Canyon and Laurel Canyon might be your best bet to find apartments to rent in the hills.

A lot of very wealthy, sometimes famous people live in the Hollywood Hills... not ALL people are rich, but a good majority have money. If you are planning on renting something, forget it about it.. they're literally hills, in the mountains, and there's very few apartment buildings or townhouses in the hills in general. If you're planning on buying something, and you have the money, go for it, it's a pretty awesome place to live. If you don't have that kind of cash, though, think about other cities nearby, where you can rent or even buy sometimes at a way more reasonable rate. Burbank and Glendale both have very low crime rates, much lower than the national average.. Burbank is the home of NBC studios, and numerous sound stages, etc. Again, if you have the money, Hollywood Hills is a very fine place to live in general.. Brad Pitt and Kevin Costner own homes there I believe. Beverly Hills is also awesome.. and yes, stay far FAR away from Hollywood.. it's pretty darn ghetto and not very safe. Also, stay away from buses while you're at it. :o) Good luck!

You were advised correctly Hollywood and Hollywood Hills are 2 separate areas and things, as Jackie said. Hope you got a LOT of money the Hills are some of the priciest real estate in Los Angeles and is mostly single family residences...BTW, Hollywood has bottomed out and is now beginning its cyclical
resurrection....

Hollywood has become a lot safer since the Scientologists started buying up all the land. Hollywood Hills are great- think Bronson Canyon off of Franklin Avenue (near Hollywood sign). Totally fun. West Hollywood is "boystown" and there are lots of fun clubs- the strip. Just keep in mind there is Hollywood, Holly-hood and Holly-weird. Mostly Hollywood is awesome!

Yes--the Hollywood Hills and the city of Hollywood are like two different things to me. The Hollywood Hills is a nice, safe area--so many celebrities reside in the area.

But the actual city of Hollywood is what I consider part of the slums of L.A. Hollywood is nothing close to what tourists think it is. Everyone outside of Los Angeles thinks it's glamorous and Beverly Hills-esque, but it's not high-class--thus, Angelenos colloquially refer to it as "Hollyweird".

It's safe by big city standards. Much better crime rate than Hollywood below it, which is pretty much the slums of LA.
Living too high up is inconvienient for commuting. It can take awhile to get down the hill into downtown. Most importantly, bring lots of money! It'll be $800K++ for a small fixer.

i'd propose Carl's Jr. over In-N-Out Burger any day. Thick, juicy angus pink meat burgers, made to reserve, with an astounding char-grilled flavour, and there are quite some concepts. they are eating position form burgers, like from Fudruckers. In-N-Out Burger tastes a twin of the different burger from the different quickly nutrition joint, quite, they are no longer some thing particular. FWIW, Carl's Jr. is an similar as Hardee's on the east coast, besides the undeniable fact that it has a touch smaller decision, and is blended with the fairway Burrito. in case you'll be in lengthy sea coast and also you want Indian nutrition, you should attempt Natraj, on 2d highway on the Belmont Shore. only devour in the evening, and order off the menu, do not devour the buffet because Indian buffet is continually bland and sub-par even as it includes both decision and flavor. The Belmont Shore mainly is a exciting little position only to stroll round, with quite a few shops, a neat record save referred to as Fingerprints, quite a few eating places, espresso shops, and a sea coast ideal down the line. The Pike portion of lengthy sea coast, no longer some distance from the Queen Mary, is likewise a good position to get out and walk round, back with quite a few eating places, a Gameworks arcade, a movie theatre (Cinemark,) a bookstall (Borders,) and a many times energetic surroundings. in case you want seafood, you would possibly want to opt for to attempt Bubba Gump's, which has some tasty shrimp. there is also a sturdy eastern Hibachi position there... the call slips my recommendations in the present day yet i imagine it truly is Wako Wako or some thing close to to that. there is also a Mai Tai bar ideal by. lengthy sea coast also has quite a few pubs and bars and nightclubs, etc, for stay track, karaoke, beverages, etc. i'd also propose going to the wide-spread section in la for procuring, quite some places to bypass over there. you would possibly want to also see quite some the touristy sights of wide-spread, or Disney, that are exciting for adults and youthful babies alike. loose tickets to studio audiences are also exciting. you could seem a majority of those issues up on line to discover precisely what pastimes you.
