Yes, my siblings and I did -- we were all on active duty (scattered around the globe), and we would check in on them every so often ... we asked them to call us or wait if they would take a long trip (and to not drive at night).

But being very independent .. they did drive to an event, and on the way home .. our father had a heart attack at the wheel, the car crashed, and both died as a result.

I was a very young adult ... just off a plane from a Long TDY -- and got the call to claim their bodies at 2AM that morning ... which was a HORROR. There should have been a better way for the police to deliver this news instead of just saying "come and identify the bodies".

Yes. In 1984, when I was in the 9th grade. Mom had become Ill suddenly, and she died in her sleep at 2 a.m. I was 18 years old. Strangeley enough though, I accepted it right off, Inner strength came from somewhere. I did still go through all the emotions of greiving. The harder part was watching my Dad. For the first year after, he hated it, when it got dark outside, more so, in the winter months. She died in October. It was terrible to hear my Dad whale, for her sometimes. Those first few days after she died, I will never forget.

But God got us through. He put bandages on our hearts when we were not looking-(chuckles) God loves us all. He really does save us, in our darkest hours. God bless each and every one of you.
