According to Chris Rock, GED stands for "Good enough diploma."

But it actually means General Education Development.

I like Chris Rock's definition better.

Graduate equivalency degree. is the answer. A GED lets you have something LIKE high school diploma but it is not a diploma, it is a test that shows that if you finished school you would have gradated.
