positive thing for them to hear isn't asking a lot?

The media covers all the negative to get everyone mad and fighting amongst ourselves , rise above that ...

Put party politics aside - snide remarks on hold and put the collective resources on the internet to the test.
No the pat answer of supporting the troops but not the war won't cut it....

It is one (1) positive thing about IRAQ said by Nancy Pelosi.
Prove yourself above the rest and find me an answer. See it as patriotism or troop support or just a good old pat yourself on the back.

In a period of six weeks (Dec. 16, 1944 to Jan. 25, 1945),81,000 American casualties, including 19,000 dead occurred at the Battle of Bulge.
Those troops had reason to be discouraged but at least they had homefront support.

As many have said "Germany never attacked the USA "- so why did we sacrifice them to that war?

Actually, and I am neither Rep or Dem, she hasn't said anything negative about the troops to my knowledge. She is questioning the policy created by the leadership itself. You can be against the "war" we are currently involved in while still supporting the troops that are depolyed.

Also, and I am no fan or apponent of Pelosi, her voting record is somewhat moderate. The conservatives paint her an ultra-liberal because her district inlcudes, or basically is, San Fran. The policies that the city of San Fran sets forth are not her policies. She really has no say in the ordinances passed by the local officials of that area.

Sadly to say she and those who think, well I am sure that is what she would call it, like her only see the bad things going on and nothing good.
Yes I know war is a sad thing that happens but the troops, with a very small %, are doing the right thing. However she only says that they all are doing the bad things.

She hasn't said anything negative, but as a true aspiring liberal she can't say anything positive for that could look like she supports Bush and it is an election season, so all you will hear from the left " But I support the troops" and leave it at that for backing anything else but those five words is against their political grain.

Dear, that is like asking someone to tell a sick patient some positive things about his terminal cancer. What would that person be expected to say? "Hey buddy, think of it on the bright side! You will never have to blow out those pesky gag birthday candles that wont extiguish anymore!" ????

Bush has been blowing his horn about this war for FOUR years while we all sat by in horror and comments falling on deaf ears. It is about time someone is speaking up!

It is a shame that the troops have to face the truth. Like Vietnam, it must not be easy. But your candy-coated idea to cheer them up is rather idealistic. Many of our soldiers are over there DESPITE the fact that they know this war is out of control. I have heard their interviews on documentaries. They simply have no choice but to do their so called duty, like it or not. These are adults (sort of) who knew what they were possibly signing on for.

We can pray for their safe return despite our presidents every effort to save face at the cost of lives. But let's not do it with our heads in the sand like ostriches.

perhaps our troops would prefer to hear the truth than a "positive thing".

EDIT in response to your additional details.

i wish people would stop using death counts from ww1 and ww2 to justify the death counts in our current war. it is clear that society is unwilling to accept the same number of deaths as it did 60, or 80 years ago.

you're right, germany didnt attack us, their ally did. but germany did declare war on us. that is a good enough reason to declare war on them.
