All of your hair does not grow at the same rate.. there are dormant stages (sleeping stages) that some hairs stay in for a few months.. oilier hair grows the fastest because oils act as a fertilizer to promote growth so washing your hair every other shower helps... but mostly on average hair will grow about 1/2 inch every month.. 6 in. every year.

it all depends on the hair type, my hair grows really slow like and inch every 2 or 3 months, my sister has fast growing hair her hair grows like and inch and 1/2 a month so she got the luck in that category. but it just depends on ur hair healthy hair grows really fast so if you never do anything to your hair like straighten it or curl it or put any kind of products in it then your hair probably grows fast. but after getting your hair cut the dead ends are gone so it grows more quickely wich is why they say if your letting your hair grow out to get the dead ends cut off every 2 weeks to a month.

I think the average is about 1cm per month for anagen hair growth. Hair grows in phases, but usually about 90% of the follicles are in the anagen growth phase.

I'm not sure of the actual time, but I know that your hair doesn't actually grow faster when you cut it, it grows at the same speed. (I"m sorry I know what it"s like to have a horrible haircut.) Just keep your spirits up, and you'll do fine.
