I have an 8 week old bull mastiff and he scratches all the time. I took him to the vet and nothing wrong. I even gave him a flea bath cause i thought that might of caused it but no help. If anyone has any ideas on how to stop the itches let me know .

Check the food that you are feeding him for ingredients like wheat, soy, corn, flour and other "allergy" triggers. It could be that he has a food allergy, like my cat. She would scratch so much, she developed scab :( I changed her food and her scabs are quickly disappearing.

I have a GREAT person at work who has pet resources and I work for a pet supply company and can help you. My company site is www.petfoodexpress.com and the Webmaster is Shani. Just email her off the site and tell her you need help :) We'll hopefully solve your problem for your Mastiff. We have someone here who has many Mastiffs, we can probably ask her for advice as well.

I JUST went through this with my dog, it turns out that he has allergies. I would ask your vet if he/she thinks that could be the case. If so, a shot of steroids and antibiotics is what we did for my little guy.

He could just have dry skin. Get a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for him. Also give him one fish oil tablet daily. This is very good for dry itchy skin.
If his coat feels dry, spray distilled water on his coat a couple of times a day to keep it moist.

My ex had a dog that was allergic to Wheat and Corn, and when you gave it to her, she would itch like crazy. Try finding a food that does not contain any wheat or corn... that might help!

Try taking him to the vet. Maybe the vet can help you out.

You might want to try a cone collar. You can find one at your local pet store. Scold him when he scratches and praise him when he doesn't.
