They can't change because NO ONE CAN. I know, I know, the religious folks don't want to hear it because they want to believe that their deity will reach out and defy the laws of nature, thereby transforming a gay man into a straight one... but it doesn't work like that.
No amount of praying, no amount of begging, no amount of sincere effort will ever... EVER... truly change ones sexual orientation. People can ignore it, supress it, sometimes even kill all desire for sexual intimacy and therefore think they are "free", but homosexuality is intrinsic to homosexuals and will NOT simply be chased away by will alone, will not queitly fade away into oblivion.
Priests and "Jesus" will do no more than convince homosexuals that they will never be happy, healthy, productive individuals as long as they try to live as their authentic selves. Reparative therapy and "sexual spiritual cleansing" are counterproductive and psychologically DAMAGING, sometimes irreparably so.
Homosexuality isn't alike alcoholism. Homosexuality isn't like any detrimental condition. Homosexuality ISN'T A CONDITION. It isn't a disease, it isn't an illness, it isn't a disorder, it isn't a maladjustment, etc. The entire psychological community, the real authorities on the matter, have been telling us for 4 decades and in no uncertain terms that homosexuality is a normal, natural, healthy sexual orientation that cannot change.

It actually can be changed.
The only reason it can't be cured is because it's not a sickness, it's a choice.
It's an action, you choose to preform homosexuality.
It wasn't a choice, than god would have said that there are those of you who are sick with homosexuality and must be cured and that there is no sin on such people.
No where in religion does it hold sick people responsible for there actions.
This is proof that homosexuality is a sin.

The whole concept of "sin" raises my ire. There is no sin. Just cause and effect. To classify something as a sin, automatically creates judgment in those that believe in the idea of sin. Instead, as Newton so brilliantly pointed out, "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." Unfortunately if you are gay and living within any of the three monotheistic constructs, you will be judged because your sexual preference is considered a sin. I think that's shameful. If an individual goes about their life being a good person, it doesn't matter what their sexual preference is. All that matters is how they act. What they put out there be it something of benefit - for the greater good - or something that is detrimental and diminishing the greater good.
Heterosexuals can be terrible people even with their sexual preference being sanctioned by the monotheistic god. Ted Bundy comes to mind as does George Bush. I'd take a decent human being who happens to be gay over these two any day of the week!

If homosexuality were a sin, it wouldn't make sense in Christian religion. Homosexuality isn't a decision. It's a hormonal imbalance, developed BEFORE birth. Believing homosexuality is a sin is believing in original sin, something that is part of Puritanism.

I used to be a counselor and Exodus and have MANY testimonies of people who have had their hearts changed. First the heart, then the behavior will follow.
Check out their site .
http://exodus.to/testimonials_left_homosexuality_03.shtml
Being homosexual is a deviant behavior, just like gambling, bestiality, overeating, or even sports! When we take something that God has given us, and MISUSE it or pervert it to fulfill desires it is sin. When we put anything above God and use IT to fulfill our desire when God wants Himself to be our desire, it is idolatry.
But to say they can't change is just stupidity and not realistic. There are FAR to many people that will tell you the truth, the problem is the liberal media won't tell you. Ask yourself, how many media outlets have had pieces on people who went to Exodus ministries and are now living lives free from homosexuality? Why don't they talk to the thousands upon thousands of people that used to be in that "lifestyle" that say it isn't any different from bestiality, or pedophilia?
NOTE: What do you say about the Exodus website? Do you think it was just made up and those people do not exist? Or what they say is made up? Please go there and find the truth.

First, you truly must want to change. Then, you must admit that you can't. I can't change, God must change me. All the therapy in the world won't do it. Only God can change us. Homosexuality is not the only sin. There are many sins and none of us can change without God. We must LET him change us. As for thinking its a sin, in the new testament, there is more than one place it states that God gives us over to the depravity of our minds. Then a list of such things is listed. Men with men and women with women is listed with drunkards, murderers, stealer's of man (kidnappers), and ANYTHING else contrary to sound doctrine. Many people leave those last words out. If you are not believing the Bible, you are in sin. If you don't follow All the Bible tells us, you are in sin. Hope this helps. Thank you for your question. It is a valid question. No disrespect at all in your question.

It is a tough thing. Who knows why people are homosexual? I say that only because there isn't sufficient evidence out there. Who knows why some people can change and others can't. There are also those people out there that say that their being homosexual is a choice (I have friends), they just like it. Who knows. If someone doesn't admit to that, then they are being stubborn and ignorant.

I mean no disrespect either, Hon but homosexuality is a very strong demonic delusion. Anyone can be changed by the Power of God through faith & the work of the Holy Spirit, sometimes some people just take longer to change. Wanting to change is the first step, satan is a liar & he wants to keep people bound in sin for as long as he can. God loves us & will help when we call on Him. Peace to you.

First of all, homosexuality is a sin according to God's word. But it's no more of a sin than lying, stealing, murder, fornication, or adultery. We have choices.

well no matter what... being homosexual is not normal. i mean im not a gay basher or anything but guys are meant to be with girls and girls to be with guys. i mean if being gay were normal then guys and girls would be able to get each other knocked up. I am very christian... a catholic as a matter of fact and i have my own share of critisism... but i do agree the idea of homosexuality and bisexuality being a sin. it says in the bible that it is wrong. that should be enough of a reason not to be that way. these gay people should just take a look at themselves and be like " wow, im really not normal, i think ill go bang a chick" thats the only solution i can think of

I agree that the Church has often failed miserably with trying to help homosexuals get free from their bondage. I believe every form of sexual addiction that doesn't respond to the application of reckoning oneself dead to sin through faith in Christ, and normal discipline, is probably caused by a demon. That may unsettle someones theology, but that's just to bad. Demons can be cast out in the name of Jesus. It's about time we started getting back to plain teachings of the New Testament. I am not speaking theoretically. i have been delivered from more than one demon spirit, and I mean as a Christian.
