Looking for a used car. Money is a huge consideration. Is 4WD overrated, really? I live in the northeast, and we do get snow, but I am of the belief that a good front wheel drive car can be just as safe as a 4WD SUV. An OK driver in a 4WD is no better in the snow than a good driver in a front wheel drive. Valid?

Any recommendations for non 4WD vehicles I should be looking at?

Honda products are a good choice.

Toyota's just can't be beat for reliability. They tolerate a little more abuse than Honda's (tho I personally prefer the Honda's ride.) Either would be a good choice.

I haven't ever had any problem staying between the lines with my FWD Acura. If you know how to drive, you probably don't need 4WD unless you do a lot of off-road driving.

Best value: Taurus. There are tons of used ones because so many are used by corporate fleets and used car agencies. Front-wheel drive. Decent reliability. Low price.
