Well hair does have as potetnial to become a life as a stem cell taken from an embryo. The stem-cell critics say that that embryo could have gone on to be a human if you just let nature take its course, where as a hair (without the intervention of man) will never become another human if you just let nature take its process.

No. The cells in the eyelash will not, if left alone, become a human being.

The cells of a blastula/foetus, left alone, will either naturally miscarry or grow into a fully featured human being.

Thus the eyelash cells have no moral human potential, whereas the blastula/foetus does.

However, if the cells were nurtured into a state that would, if then left alone, form a blastula then a human being, yes, that would require the moral protections afforded all other humans.

Can hair be used to clone? Only the root (bulb) has nuclear DNA. Now saliva, that I'm protecting.

Life is protected, not the "possibility" of it. Human embryo's are "living beings" which matures, killing the embryo kills the human. A strand of hair, or it's DNA will not by itself grow to be a human being.

the fundie issue seems to be that they believe stem cells are human beings, not that you can clone from them. Yes, we understand that this is ridiculous, but lets at least understand their issue.
