Sad, isn't it? We can take many other illnesses seriously and be sympathetic or empathetic, but not mental illness. I think you are right - education is the key and possibly starting quite young (maybe middle school/junior high?).

As a society we are unable to do so. But, individually,we can adjust our own thinking and be more accepting of those who suffer from mental illness. And we do that by becoming more knowledgeable of the problems that mankind suffers from.

If everyone would take five minutes a day to hit themselves on the top of thier heads with an 8 ounce hammer, then we would all be mentally-challenged and there would be no issue.

those of us who can risk it should be open about it
then be willing to just absorb the prejudice, try to be like MLK I think, whenever you can
its not gonna go away any time soon, maybe not in our lifetimes
its weird when society has to label, sane or crazy, nothing between , so when 2 people with labels try to hook up, nobody will let them cuz they assume one or the other or both are just too crazy to make it work.
Pretty much EXACTLY like saying somebody can't date a black or white person.
