Parents use the excuse the kid is only 4,so taking the helpless kittens life cat is all right if you are 4 year, Are we underestimating 4 year old and teaching the child to believe they are not capable of much at this age?.
By the time you are 4 you should know better ,and be capable of going through life with out committing murder before

Here is a wake up call, that Countries out side the US are ahead with their children.Their children are more Superior mentally and genetically.
ADD the most poor excuse used by simple parents for their bad behavior in their kid ...ADD is unheard of in other countries.

The Bible is full of allegorical sayings. "Spare the rod" does not have to LITERALLY mean using a physical method of punishment. The Bible is saying that a child without discipline will be spoiled. Not that a child who is not beaten with a rod or other physical device will be spoiled. Spanking is punishment. Pure and simple. It is NOT discipline. Discipline is about teaching a child to do what is right. Spanking/punishment is about inflicting fear upon a child to prevent an undesired behaviour. Do you not see how ridiculous your own comments are? ". . . everybody knows smacking your parents is disrespectful and rude." But smacking your own child is respectful and not rude? Children learn what they are taught and what they see you do. Unfortunately, many parents take that Bible saying to the extreme and use it to punish their children in very harsh ways that is abuse. Children need protection from those parents, so, unfortunately, it affects everyone. There are so many other ways to teach, discipline, and love our children. Not having the right to physically hit them is no big deal if it protects children from abusive situations.

that 4 year old sounds like she does not have discipline in her life and they need to get a hold of it NOW....If that was my child...she would of been punished big time.....i am a big cat lover..that is very sad...and i watched the videos of the kids being plain brats....my sister's kids are like that...they are 2 and 7!!!! I have a 8 yr old daughter and she is a polite-well mannered child... my son will be 1 yrs old next month and he definitely knows the meaning of the word No and he knows if he does not listen by the 2nd time...he will get a light spanking on his arm or butt..I am a very strict mother and it is going to win out in the end as my kids will be nice kids not brats that you see now...it's the parents fault just being lazy, not being consistent every time the child gets into trouble...i feel for that poor kitten.

I personally do not believe in spanking a child. I feel that it models aggression. Punishing a behavior is only effective in short term. The best way to change a behavior is by using reinforcement. Using reinforcement takes longer to change a behavior, but the effect is permanent. If you spank your child, they will behave only while you are in the room. Spanking teaches the child to fear the punisher. So, you are not being respected, you are actually being feared by the child.
At times a child misbehaves because they don't understand that what they are doing is wrong. By spanking you are teaching the child that a certain behavior is unacceptable, but it doesn't show them any alternatives to that behavior.
Many more people in the US don't spend the time needed to properly teach their children because so much of our time is spent at work. I agree with you to a point about using ADD as an excuse. I do feel like children are being over medicated, but I do think that there are a couple of genuine ADD cases. Smoking while pregnant causes ADD along with a number of other problems.

The problem is parents now days worry if they are going to be turned into Child Pertective Servise if they do spank their children. I think that is wrong and that the goverment should keep its fat nose out of the way parents discipline their children as long as it doesn't get out of hand. (belts, brushes, ect.) That is the problem with todays youth is they know that there is no punishment for the crime anymore! We need to get back to the way it use to be when if you act up you will get smaked on the butt and I don't care if that is in a store or your home if that child is being terrible they need it so they learn to behave! I am a mother of 1 and pregnant with my second and my parents spanked me and I think I am much better off since they did I didn't get into HALF the trouble todays kids get into and my children will be disciplined as well and if that is bad sorry I don't think so I think we all need to START TO DISCIPLINE our children again!

I dont think there is anything wrong with spanking your child. I dont mean abuse in any way but a smack on the bottom when they are bad or something is totally fine. I think that is why so many kids are out of control these days is because parents are afraid to lay down rules and stick to them. I was spanked as a child..and I knew not to do those things again. And it didnt kill me. And personally I plan to take the same approach with my daughter when she is born. I wouldnt beat a child for anything but I dont believe we have to feel guilty about smacking a childs fingers or smacking their bottom.

That is pretty bad. I wouldn't say that children outside the US are ahead genetically, just mentally. Of course, that is unfair to the parents if you arrest them for not punishing their children when right now, parents can go to jail FOR punishing their children. Let's just put all parents in jail now for either beating their children or not spanking them and beat the rush!

I agree with you in principle, but as a former child welfare worker, I can say that I have seen VERY DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS of spanking, and when and how it is to be applied, so, I'd want to get that clear. I have to agree with WINGS on her assessment of some law in California, but then my assessment of California is way down there anyway, so . . .. And I agree with your assessment of ADD and ADHD. It's the source of continued drug pushing in this country and is a perfect way to make sure that America is NEVER DRUG FREE. Everyone who is too lazy or too self-centered to want to take the time or energy to actually raise their children will be running their kids and themselves to a shrink or GP and getting various drugs to do for them what they wouldn't do for themselves. Again, I agree with you in principle about the spanking our kids issue, but I truly want to be clear on what, EXACTLY, we mean by spanking. And our citizenry and the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association, et. al., need to drop this ADD and ADHD trash. God Bless you.

You seem to be really frustrated with something. I understand your frustration but don't really understand you since your "question" isn't really a question its more like "Preaching". Do not generalize about people in the West. A lot of people all over the World are F*ed up not just in America. Yes killing kittens is wrong and that kid obviously has issues and he needs help. But seriously calm down & set your sights on improving glabal warming. Let parents discipline their own children.

I don't think kids should be physically spanked but I do think people who rely on youtube videos to support their generalizations about the inhabitants of another country deserve a spanking.
