My son joined through the delayed entry program. He scored very highly on the ASVAB test and he is an electronic technician,His first 2 years were working on Doppler Radar systems. He is now going to school to work on nuclear electronic systems. The Navy offers excellent training and hopefully you will be able to use it in civilian life if the Navy isn't a career for you. There will always be an amount of risk involved, whether"dumb ol'george" is POTUS or not and as such you need to weigh that factor in.Thanks for considering service to our country and GO NAVY!

There's a lot of good points to joining the Navy. They rely on some sophisticated technology which can get a person started on a good career, they have good education benefits, they have good medical benefits, they seem to get promoted incredibly quick, etc.

There's one bad point to joining the Navy. There's a good chance you'll spend a lot of time on a boat, touring the world. Great if you're single and pretty sure on serving just a few years. Great for some people period.

Personally, that was the deciding factor between joining the Navy or the Air Force. I felt the Air Force provided a better family life and, as it turned out, I did stay in for 20 instead of just a few years of adventure.

I'm an Army vet myself -- but with the current situation I would think the Navy might be better -- alot safer (but it's still the military - so you'd still be a fighting man in the end).

There are lots of good things about military service, but just be sure you're ready for war if you do it. I hope things will be calming down for a while given the message the voters sent to the people in charge this last election, but who knows.

Good luck!

"DUMB OL GEORGE"? He will be your Commander in Chief and you better watch your mouth when you're on active duty. Bad mouthing your Commander in Chief is a no-no. The Navy is a good outfit. Go for a technical rating if you go in. Get a rating you can use when you do get out...and with your attitude, it might be sooner than you think. Dumb ol George.....do you think YOU could handle his job, the responsibilities and the knowledge that you have to make decisions the might get people killed? Grow up or SHUT UP little boy!

you should join if your intentions are to serve your country and President. Not because your leader, John Kerry, convinced you of being too dumb for college.

If at all possible, postpone your decision, and go get some College Credits instead.

just wait one year for the new president and see if he or she pulls the troops out of iraq. that way you can get mentally prepared for the task ahead
