Well a lot of people go by what ever they are told, and the Bible has nothing to do with it, unfortunately.
............
Others go by what there family has been doing for generations and the Bible has nothing to do with it, unfortunately.
...........
But there are some that seek out a Religion that teaches strictly from the Bible and holds the Bible as there only Creed.

If people would just go by what the Bible teaches there would only be one Religion, but there are SO many that go by what some man says and not by the Word of God. And that is really unfortunate.

The Bible says at the End of time God will call His people out of all these different religions and bring them into His remnant Church..

Great Question !

No only is it based on indivisual experiences and beleifs. But it's a huge cultural difference. You have to remember prior to this modern age, cultures were very isolated, especially 1,000s of years ago and also Jesus, Buddah, and Mohammed, etc were only able to travel so far when they were on earth in human form so it's not like Jesus could've taught all the Western European, American, and Australian countries and regions for example. So a big part of it is just culture and what your culture grew up on.

well it's a combination of things really some people are brought up into believing a certain way anyway as people get older they choose to either stay with what they know or go to a different path altogether such as switching religions or being atheist or agnostic as they decide for themselves what makes sense to them

It all depends on what they want to hear. If they want to hear that they can get a divorce any time they want, they'll probably go for a religion that teaches that. Or if they want to drink and smoke or what not, they'll go for a religion that teaches that that's okay. If they want to hear that divorce is bad, they'll seek out a religion that teaches that. That's just the way most people work. They believe and listen to what they want to hear.

Because not everyone thinks the same way. Different people have different ways of looking at the world, each of which is valid for them. It is only right that they have different religions, which of course they do.

Almost everyone who has ever lived believes what they believe for the same reason: it's what their parents believe.

When you consider all the people who have ever lived, switching religions is relatively rare.
