Almost all covens dont publish themselves out, so you almost have no contact with priests or priestesses unless you look them up online. You can go to http://www.witchvox.com and Im sure you will find a coven in no time (you can look it up by zip code!!!) Just make sure you are ready for a coven, its a huge commitment.

Don't worry about what others think, it's what you feel in your heart that is right for you anyway. I don't think most pagans or Wiccans actually have covens. I know I prefer to commune by myself. I suppose it's like people who like praying alone or people who like going to churches.
Anyhow, if you really want to find a coven, your best bet would probably be to go into the nearest larger town and go to a crystal shop or "healing" shop and just ask around. But beware, a lot of those people are fakes.

OK I am nowhere near you so I can't help with finding people personally, but a lot of times you can find people where you are through Witchvox. If there is a lot of anti pagan sentiment where you live, they might not all be out of the broom closet, as it were, and so will be hard to spot. But that doesn't mean they're not there.
I also reccommend joining discussion boards so you can communicate with people who are not in your area. While the web gets more and more prevalent in our lives, increasingly it doesn't matter where we live.
I also reccommend wearing something to identify yourself as a pagan in a subtle manner. I am not talking a pentacle the size of a hubcap, here. An aknh on a ring, a medicine pouch, or a crystal point will all send the message to those in the know that your beliefs are slightly left of center, but those outside the circle won't know what they're seeing. If they see something strange and punce on you for it, you have an easy out. "it's not a pagan symbol, it's an egyptian symbol/ bag of herbs/ pretty sparkly thing."

I grew up in Maryland, and there is a HUGE Wiccan pagan community in MD.
There are 10 adults listed in Lusby on The Witches Voice
http://www.witchvox.com/vn/pa/usmd_paa.html?id=&offset=650
you can always go to local Witchy stores to find people.

Are you knew to the craft, and wish to seek guidance, by a coven leader, or you want to be in a coven because your sick of being a solitary? I am kinda confused on the question. If you are trying to look for pagans try a people search on yahoo, for your area/ or close to your area.
But what kind of advice do you want? There are millions of books, internet articles for pagans/ wiccans/ ect. for the magickal advice you need.
I am sorry to hear your community is aganist pagans.
well, if I can be of any assistance e-mail me for what you want to know,
best of wishes!

Oooo....I'm not in MD, I'm in NY, and it's hard enough up here finding Wiccans and Pagans! Do you have a local Unitarian church? See if you can find one, you might be able to meet some Wiccans and Pagans there. Good luck!
