Well, besides the fact that, of course, a tattoo is permanent, you're only 17 and in the state of New Hampshire you must be 18 in order to even get a tattoo - so, I guess you can look at that as a con. Also, many places do poor jobs - you have to check out these places. Find a good, really clean place.
I live in New Hampshire, too, and I when I turned 16 I definitely got my belly button pierced at the wrong tattoo parlor. It got infected and I had to let it close up! Lame. It's about time I go get it repierced...
Good luck with the tattoo!

Pro:If you want a tattoo, get one. I would make sure that it is something that you can imagine being on your body for forever. Lots of people say only get a tattoo if it means something to you. I say, that yes, this is true, but why not get something that you love visually and want to display it on your body to make you happy as well. Therefore, a pro is that it will make you happy.
Con: If you care about the way people see you, or if you get it in a spot that cannot be hidden, these could be cons. They can hurt, and they can cost a lot, depending of course on what you get.
FYI, I believe the blood donating comment is only partially true. You have to wait 12 months to give blood after you have gotten a tattoo.
That's my 2 cents.
Metal based...Rip it out? That's funny.

Well, I guess a pro would be having a beautiful piece of art on your body,(providing you go to an excellent tattoo artist), a con would be they are forever. Just make sure it is something you can live with, something that you want. I have 3, they are little, and I don't regret a single one, they all have a special meaning to me.

Many regret them. People may judge you for them. You run the risk of a blood-borne illness if the place doesn't use a stringent sterilization process.
On a positive note, you have a permanent reminder of something that represents something important to you that you can carry around with you everywhere, all the time, for the rest of your life.

It would be easier to just buy 7 T shirts, one for each day of the week, that say "I'm ignorant and don't have any self-respect and don't anticipate changing that during my lifetime".
On the other hand, maybe a dragon on your forearm will get that message across faster.

They're with you the rest of your life. We generally change our attitudes and what we want to represent us several times over the course of our lives, and really customized tats--or any tats at all--can be embarrassing later. It's like painting your living room purple--great for that theme party, but it sucks the other 364 days of the year.
Tats fade and blur over time.
Best of luck.

good thing-they're sexy in certain places, depending on what they're of....and they can show you care about it depending on WHY you get it.....they're appealing to some, and not to others.
bad thing- When you get older, they're gonna get all wrinkly and they won't even look like the tattoo you got.....and when you're older, depending on what you get, they could say certain things about an old man that other people just realllllly don't wanna know.....but hey, if you want one, i think you should go for it, just don't cover your whole body in them like people from Miami Ink do...even though they look frickin sexy. haha. :)...hope i helped

Think of a design you'd want to have for the rest of your life. Now, wait a year...are you still enamored with that design? Having said that, my daughter has four tatoos and I think she's beautiful...
