First of all, cover your broiler pan with foil to ease with cleanup. Turn on the broiler to heat up the area and the pan. If you've never cooked steak before, you might want to think about how you like to eat it. Well done means no pink in the middle. Medium has a slightly pink center. Medium rare has a tinge of red in the center and rare is pretty much red and juicy. Each steak will cook according to how thick it is...the thicker the steak, the longer it needs to cook. If you want your meat rare, then when you push the center of it it should feel pliable and soft, but the outside is singed and cooked. If you want your meat medium rare to medium, the the center is much less pliable, but still soft. For well done, the center should not be pliable when pushed. On an average, medium rare steaks take approximately 6 - 7 minutes on each side, but you should check them. If they are thinner, it will be less time., thicker, maybe more. A good seasoning rub includes: fresh ground black pepper, coarse salt, garlic powder, beau monde seasoning sprinkled liberally, and ground rosemary, basil, thyme. Rub the steaks genenerously and let sit for at least an hour. If you add olive oil, then watch closely while you cook them so they don't burn. Put them on the broiler pan, approximately 4 inches from the heat and leave the door slightly ajar. Good luck!

Do you know what the broiler is? On an electric stove, its
that electric coil up at the top of the oven. Now put your shelf
about 6" from that. Using a heavy pan with no plastic or
wood that will burn---season your steak (no salt until cooked).
Turn on your broiler probably to low broil because I'm
afraid a 500o oven might set something on fire. Remember,
you have a very hot fire going inside the house. Always
leave the vent open on the top of an electric stove.

On a gas stove, the broiler is usually an open flame near
the bottom of the stove. You should have a broiler pan
with a top with holes for the grease to fall thru. Here again.
Use the broil setting and try to keep at least 3" away
from the flames. Cook your steaks for 5-7 minutes on
each side (or use an instant read thermometer). Please
keep a fire extinguisher handy (the one good for grease
fires). Or better still, wait till summer and use your BBQ
grill outside.

You cook a steak in the oven, but broil you have to use the broiler pan and put the oven on broil (if you dont have a broiler).

Use T-Bone steak, Wash pat dry, poke a few fork holes and sprinkle meat tenderizer, pepper, onion and garlic powder broil on each side about 8- 10 mins. depending on how you like your steak cooked.

When cooking a steak in the oven, it is very important to use a beef base or even just water. The oven will dry a steak out. The beef base will not only keep the steak moist, but will also add flavor to your steak.

Take a sheet pan and spray with a stick resistant spray. Place the tenderized meat on the pan and place under the broiler. Watch as it will cook quickly.
