I've wondered why it is that dirt is dirty too. Maybe it's the dust that gets on you after you've been in it. Then you have animals that do their business in it and I am sure some people do as well. There is also spit and all types of other ickiness in it. Other than that if it was all cleaned I don't see how it'd still be dirty. Other things get dirty as well and we don't call it dirt.
