The atmosphere Don`t let infared radiation out, + bounce back to earth again, hense we are greenhouse.

It's call a greenhouse because the "Green" is reference to environmental -what is the greenhouse for -Plants (green plants)

Because it is used mainly to grow green vegetables etc. in. Things like lettuce for example do not grow very well in the garden as the outside temperature is generally too low.
