I met my wife via a AmericanSingles, before it was a pay site. This was back in 1996.
As for AFF, a lot of people hook up via that. But that is all it often is, a hookup.
If you are looking for sex, AFF will work if you can be glib enough to entice someone. Talk to them in chat-speak (you know, "U R so HOT, I think U R GR8) and you will blow it.
Just know that a lot of pics on AFF are fakes or of other people. Just like in chat rooms, people lie quite a bit about their appearances.

many a true thing said in jest as they say, in all honesty, hes only flirting has he ever cheated before? i would say dont worry too much as long as he doesn't have a history, quite intrested to know though why you are communicating over the internet when you are starting a family together and already pregnant with his baby???? tell him to get off myspace its for dj groupies and kids and take notice of his pregnant woman. good luck xxxx
