Where do I know you from?" and i told him. he smiled and said "oh yeah." I said "I know i look like crap without my makeup and everything." laughed and started to walk away. he called out to me so i turned around and he said " you shouldn't be so pretentious about the way you look." or ".......about your looks." What do think he ment by that? That im pompus or stuck up? it cant be that cause im really not in anyway. im just lost by the way he used that word.

My guess is that he just misused the word "pretentious." It is, of course, almost the exact opposite of the way you were being -- you were being self-effacing or self-deprecating, and pretentious means pompous or stuck-up, as you say.

I'm sure he meant it as a compliment to you. At least I hope so. What's the saying -- never attribute to malice that which can be explained by mere ignorance? :-)
