The best spells are the ones you write yourself. They are specific to your aim and tend to be more effective because they work using elements significant to you, not a general audience.
You do not need to be "advanced" to do this, it is mostly based on common sense. As with all magic, you must consider EXACTLY what you want to achieve, consider any harmful implications and visualise yourself achieving your goal. If you prefer a ritual, you can tailor your spellcraft to your goal and use the "correct" correspondences, moon phases etc. Any reference book will tell you those. However, I believe good spellcraft is a primarily mental activity based on direction of will and intent. A good witch should be able to form a spell at any time or place. Practice and see for yourself. In my experience, most spell books over complicate things ridiculously.
Bright blessings :)

Currently I am reading "The Elements of Ritual" by Deborah Lipp.
It's not a Witchcraft 101 book at all. It's written by a Wiccan but the information can be easily used by anyone.
As for spells, if you don't want trash, write your own! You have to experiment and put some effort into it! Writing your own spells gives them more power than some mass produced thing whipped out of a word processor to meet a publisher's deadline.
1. Think - what do you want to accomplish? Write it down and be
precise. Think about color, lunar, day & time
correspondences. Which ones/time is best?
2. Coordnate- how you are going to cast your spell. Get your
ingredients (stuff) together. Inscribe objects with goal/runes
/whatever, if needed. Write down your spell step by step.
(Save your spells! Then you can improve or change them)
3. Ground & center, then preform your spell.
4. Visualize- SEE your spell working! See your goal attained.
5. Dispose- respectfully dispose of things that you aren't
going to keep (i.e. candle stubs)
You can use published spells as a guide and adapt them to suit you. Then there's no need to waste $ on useless books.
Keep track of them too, so you don't forget the really good spells you create.
Blessings!

If you're getting tired of the mass produced books, write your own spells! Those are the most powerful anyway. I intend to do that, eventually, but I'm not that advanced yet.

The website below would be your best bet to track down a decent spell book. It's very informative, they even have spells listed there.

Try writing your own. Your own spells should be more powerful anyway as you have made them, bit like not buying 'spell kits' on eBay.
Witchcraft is a life-long learning curve, blessed be on your path

If your a witch does it mean your going to hell? No. Hell does not exist, so no one can go to it. If not then what do you call a good witch? The same thing you call a bad witch or any kind of witch in-between. A witch. Is there a certain name? Witchcraft is a tool that anyone can use, a witch is someone who uses that tool. IT can be used for many things, the value you place on it is arbitrary and subjective... "harm" or "help... "Good" or "bad" are not absolutes... they rely on judgement, opinion and experience. If your a witch does it affect your family spirtually, physically, emotionally, and mentally? That depends on your family and depends on the witch. It can be a very positive thing if the witch protects and aids his/her family with witchcraft. -Scarlet

the real craft is not in books, it is passed on from master to student. as the novice grows more is given...
books contain enough to get you hurt.
