After the death of a family member, I fould a painting deep inside of a closet. It is of Countess Spencer by Sir Joshua Reynolds. It has an original signature which I have been told by an art dealer, looks authenic. It looks like pencil and is signed Sir Joshua Reynolds. It looks to be a litheograph but is hard to tell because it is very old. I have been told by someone who restores paintings that it is well over 100 years old. Please let me know what you think. Thank you.

I'm not familiar with the printmaking output of Mr. Reynolds. If it is contemporary with the artist it is unlikely to be a litho. If it is a print in any medium contemporary with Sir Joshua it is unlikely that it is signed by him. His publisher perhaps in the plate. You call it a painting, is it in colour?

Take it to an auction house or a certified appraiser and get it properly valued. DO NOT mess with it without supervision. Sure it will cost a few bucks. Perhaps there other items in the estate and you could have them valued at the same time.
