OK, assuming that he's not dating someone else and is not gay, does he know that you are interested in more than friendship?
I know many women that have fun flirting and joking around with guys and have no intent of dating them. It can be confusing, so it can be hard for a guy to risk crossing that friendship line.
Why not just ask him out? If he says yes, great; if he says no, well, at least you know and still have a friend; if you don't do anything, you'll kick yourself for years to come.

I'm in the EXACT situation. I really like my best guy friend. Here's what I did. I was talking to him online and I just asked him if he liked me. I kinda had to ask him because of the question I posted on here (Read it, it may help. there are two versions. both are the same)
To my suprise, he said he likes me a little...... But he still won't ask me out. I actually asked him out a few weeks ago. I didn't regret it at all like some people would. It was kinda reliving. But before you ask him out or anything, make sure that if you get together and break up that it won't ruin yor friendship. Because then one you will just end up feeling bad.
Ok, this is absolutly killing me, but trust me, it works. You will hate what I am about to say and I hated it when someone told me to do this. It is extreamly hard but it really works. But first (Before you do this) try flirting. Now, for the part that you will not like. Just wait for him. If you truly like him, you will wait as long as it takes to get him.
I hope this helps. Good luck with him. But seriously, the question I wrote on here will help you. It is the exact same problem. And don't listen to people that say that it isn't a good idea to fall for your friends, because sometimes they fall for you too.

Of course you can be friends with guys! Here are some simple tips... 1. First, just start talking to them. Just turn to the guy next to you in class. Befriend him and you probably also unlocked a group of his friends. 2. Don't be afraid to be yourself! Do you love sports, being competitive, video games etc..? Guys love this stuff, and love a girl who will do it too. And even if you don't know of or like video games, ask a guy to show you his fav game, and u will most likely become addicted...trust me lol. 3. What not to talk to guys about: clothes, make up, shopping, gossip....guys aren't into that sorta thing. They are also anti-drama. Don't ask for dating advice b/c they may get a "more then friends" vibe.

Girls mature in the relationship field before most boys. Have a talk with him and give him a day or two to answer. You could have the first date with a group in case friendship is the best decision.

It sounds like he is shy, just ask casually whether he would like to go to a movie.

You won't feel the same way about each other, one will always be more attracted in 'that' way than the other will be.
