Ive got a marks and spensers dinner of mussels. can i eat it all but the shell or will a certain wit make me sick? Hurry its nearly ready

Just eat what's inside the shell and you'll be okay. It's just one piece of mussel meat.
Avoid stuff that looks stringy or clinging to the outside of the shell.
If the mussels are prepared properly, the beard has been removed.

Just make sure you remove the beards.(The sea weedy bit that keeps the mussel attached to the rock or rope). Just pull them off, also don't eat any that don't open these are ones that have died.

The beard that's the stringy bit but that should have been removed, If the shell doesn't open don't eat that one because it's not a good one.

you can eat it all , what I find though is if you open it , the meat that is, there is a weed inside that you pull out , it looks like tangled fishing wire, just hold it as you bite and pull it out . warm mussells it makes his mouth water you lucky so an so

the problem with shell fish is the chances of getting food poisoning are greatly increased and when you are pregnant you are far more likely to get food poisoning as well. that is why you are told to avoid shell fish especially ones like mussels. there is nothing in them that will directly hurt the baby but severe food poisioning will.

Nope, all the fleshy bits are OK to eat - but make sure all the shells are opened up a bit. Any shells remaining tight closed? Discard!

uck... all of it. they look minging and when you pull them out of the shell there's this gross "foot" bit still stuck to the inside... i think i'm gonna puke now. cheers
