in the uk is it legal to have sex when you are 16 years of age without permission or do you have to have permission from your parents at this age?
Or is the legal age without permission 18?
my boy friends mum keeps on saying no, u are not allowed to do it because you are not old enough but we are both 16, so is it legal if we dont ask?
I'm confused.

The legal age you can have sex by law, is 16.
Your boyfriends mum probably doesn't 'want' you having sex yet!
You don't need to ask permission, BUT, please, if you decide to take the step, USE PROTECTION!
At 16, you can leave home, or get married with your parents permission. That's where you are getting confused i think

The legal consensual age for a sexual relationship is 16 in the UK...perhaps your girlfriends mum is trying to protect you both from rushing headlong into having sex just because you are old enough...
Sex should be about the love you have for each other and the respect for the other person'd wish to have sex not whether you are old enough.
Its n ot a race...it will happen when its right, not because you are 16

At 16 you are free to have sex as you like. Your boyfriend's mother is either being protective or is confusing her laws - you can get married at 16 with permission or at 18 without.

Permission is not required; consent on the otherhand most certainly IS. The age of consent is 16 in UK, but don't assume this is indicative of the matuity of either party.

Of course it is, when you're both 16 it is perfectly legal. If one is under 16 then the older one is comitting a crime (statutory rape).
The only grey area is when both are under 16, then technically it is not illegal, because they are both under the age of consent when police are powerless, because they cannot be held responsible for the actions (as long as it isn't forced / rape)

Ypu can legally have sex aged 16 as often as you want to, you don't legally need permission.
