Like someone else said there is no testing for Fibromyalgia. It's pretty much just a catch all for doctors. The Neurologist will probably tell you that you do have it. What did the other doctor tell you it might be? What are you symptoms?

Find a good Pain Specialist. The other doctors will not likely diagnose fibromyalgia. You probably have some other things going on as well, M/S, Osteoarthritis, degenerative bone disease. Or at least some of the doctors will think so. It's easier to get treatment for these other illnesses. FM and soft tissue pain do not show up on an x-ray or any other MRI, Mylo-gram, CT scan, etc.
The answer to your question is: There are doctors that do understand this illness you just have to find them.

It is the worst thing you can be diagnosed with. Now every pain I have is chalked up to Fibro. I had to have an MRI done to prove that my neck pain was not Fibro related and it took a very long time to get it done.
If that is your only ailment then getting diagnosed will help, but I had cancer, bulging discs in my neck, a pinched nerve root in my neck, and a pinched sciatic nerve, so the Fibro diagnosis was actually a bad thing for me.
Look up the Rhuematology website and they will have to most up to date and intensive information on Fibro.
Good luck with your health. And remember that you know more about your body and do not let the doctors push you around. Stand up for yourself.

There is no definitive test to diagnose fibromyalgia. Honestly, I think it's just the name for pain they cannot find a reason for.

no one knows what causes it ; seems like this is a catch all for chronic pain , other symptoms etc ; we don't know everything about the human body , far from it; what are your symptoms?? some doctors feel like they just can't say I don't know etc; we think that we know everything or should and we don't and that is hard to accept ; homeopathic doctor??? have you tried to see if environment , missing nutrient, depression etc.
