DARK AGES??? you try to squeeze 800 hp from a 358 motor lol. nascar doesnt need to go high tech.it SHOULD stay the way it was meant to be. toyota wont bring OHC or FI to nascar cuz it isnt allowed. the car of tomorrow brings every team on a level playing field. any team can win now. not like formula 1 where you can predict who is going to win 1 of about 3-4 teams

NASCAR stands for North American Stock CAr Racing. In my opinion, NASCAR is for American made cars. Camry, a Japanese car, is the number one selling car in America and this is a disgrace. Part of it is American car makers fault, but still, a Japanese car is the number one selling car in America. Now, when, not if, Toyota starts too dominate NASCAR, that is going to be a real big slap in our face and to the supposedly BIG 3. A Japanese car winning the NEXTEL CUP. What a shame. And you know what there car is going to be, the number one selling car in America the last seven years. The Camry. What is America coming too.

It's about time. NASCAR is supposed to be about "stock car" racing. Well, how many stock cars use rear wheel drive, pushrod actuated valves, and a carburetor. It would be more representative of stock cars if they had OHC's, fuel injection, and all the high tech goodies we have on our "street cars". Maybe the "Good Ol' Boys" are afraid that some kid in an Accura could blow their doors off. Actually, getting Mercedes involved is no big deal, since they own Chrysler already. Hey NASCAR! Get out of the dark ages!

One should only look what Toyota has done in the Craftsman Truck Series. Three years after entering the sport, they will a Truck Championship.

I think Toyota is going to raise the sport to a new level and it is going to add excitement.

I think that the real test will be which Ford,Chevy or Dodge establish team will jump to Toyota after this season is over?

I'm disappointed that Michael Waltrip wants to bring a foreign auto maker into the picture when NASCAR has been known for American made cars. But I guess he has to make money somewhere, because he can't drive.

Toyota has deep pockets and more than likely deeper than any of the American made. This could lead to developments that Chevy,Ford,Dodge will not have.
As for Mercedes they are owned by Daimler the same company that owns Chrysler-Dodge.

I foresee the same result as when Toyota entered the Craftsman Truck Series. A couple of years, a few driver changes and they should be somewhat competitive.

Will bring some technology (if it is possible in such stupid cars with push-rod and carburetors).
I don't know about Mercedes, but I hope Honda will come soon.
