christianity teaches love and tolerance, yet when questions are asked about christianity so SOME christians are quick to call names and put them down for their "stupid" questions (that they themselves obviously cant answer as they've stooped as low as to call names)?

Yes, its very very sad.

Christianity should not need to be defended. If people have questions - We should be happy to give answers, but if people are just bible thumping, that is the opposite of the nature of God.

I hope people learn the difference soon.

I am a Christian and I am sorry that some do not realize the true teaching of God. I would never consider someones question stupid, and I would not call names. It saddens me that people have such a horrible view of Christians, I study all religions I can to get a better understanding of people so I can answer intelligently as possible. I try not to bad mouth any other religion. We all have a right to believe in what we will. Please know that not all Christians are this way.

Christianity does not teach tolerance-never has. It teaches intolerance, like Judaism, and Islam.
Love-yes, that is a key part.

You don't believe in religion, but you believe and study science. So according to your thinking, if we should be perfect examples of shining love even in the face of ridicule, that means to me, that you should get perfect on every science exam you ever write. My father had a saying, "Whats good for the goose is good for the gander." Or, "look at the pot calling the kettle black".

A lot of things are ironic. You need to remember that we all fall short from the glory of God. We are different and our spiritual maturity level is different. We do not get saved because we are smart or good. We get saved only by the mercy and grace of God.

It is a sad thing indeed. And very frustrating. How to you speak logically to someone who can not see logic? I am a Christian too, and talking to other Christians - well there comes a time when you leave sane religion and become a zealot. Many people here are zealots.

The logic of your question is a generalization about as sensible as the Jehovah's Witness preacher who knocks on my door every other fortnight on Sunday telling me to join his clan so that I can be saved and not be condemned to hell like the rest of the non-JW'es.

On behalf of my fellow Atheists, can you just get baptised or something? We only want intelligent arguments to represent our belief system.

Love and tolerance is not the same as acceptance.

I will never accept that people sin and do not ask God for forgiveness. I will never accept that people choose not to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I will try to help them see the error of their ways, because I love them.

I disagree..most believers are very tolerant people...until they take power..then they start setting up the stakes and burning the books.

Christians also have another name, it's called human. Cut us some slack, at least as much as you would for yourself
