My son starts high school this year, and Im worried about him getting involved with gangs, drugs etc, so I bought a small 10 foot boat and motor, and I know he loves fishing and camping so I will take him into the great outdoors on weekends (or whenever he wants to) and hopefully this will help keep him away from negative elements, what do you think??????

Talk to your son about all the things your scared of him doing the more kids are informted of whats out there the less likely they are to be caught off gaurd and get mixed up in the wrong thing. The baot is great becasue you can use the quest time to talk to your kid find out what hes doing keep the lines of communication open. That way you will know if something is wrong before its too late. The more involved parents are in thier kids life the better

You cannot keep anyone insulated from negative elements. But what you are doing is lessening his exposure to them, and more importantly, strengthening your bond with him immeasurably. He will have fun, have a terrific role model, and a confidente, when the time comes. Good for you!!!

Just be prepared for him to want to bring a friend or two occasionally, which is a whole other weekend trip, but valuable in its own way, because he needs to bond with GOOD FRIENDS and you need to know who his friends are. Happy trails~!

As long as you keep the lines of communication open at all times and be honest with him about everything. Great to know that you care :) I think you will do just fine if you keep thinking the way you do.
