Deuteronomy 21:22-23--"And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree; his body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt surely bury him the same day; for he that is hanged is accursed of God; that thou defile not thy land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance." (Those who thought Jesus deserved to die, felt that by doing this to him, he would be cursed.(many Jews and Romans were superstitious also )
This is seen at Galatians 3:13--"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree--"
Psalm 22:17-19 " I may count all my bones; They look and stare upon me. They part my garments among them, And upon my vesture do they cast lots. But be not thou far off, O Jehovah: O thou my succor, haste thee to help me."
Psalm 34:20--"He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken."
Isaiah 53:12--"Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors: yet he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

Psalm 34:20 he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken.
Jesus said he would be persecuted (John 15:20 Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.'[a] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.)
He never said "and persecuted with thieves."
