Try getting a humidifier for your house. Particularly in the bedroom and keep it on while you sleep. This helped my sinus infections a lot. Also, you can clean your sinus passages with some saline nose spray.

Your immune system is weak from smoking, and possibly other health issues.

Start by taking sinus medication, like sudafed or Advil Cold and Sinus to relieve the pressure.
You can also get saline sprays at the drug store, as well as a saline rinse kit to keep your sinuses clear, and rinse the build up out of them. Your body is CLEANING ITSELF UP after your smoking habit, you need to let it. But you can do some work to keep your sinuses clear BEFORE it leads to infection.

Also - some infections don't go all the way away if you aren't using a strong enough medication. You could have an infection that is resistant to the antibiotics your doc is giving you. IF you need more meds because the above things are not working - tell him to give you an anti-resistant antibiotic, and a powerful one at that, maybe even a double dose to ensure the infection is completely gone.

But don't start smoking again - your sinuses are trying to heal themselves from the damage smoking has done - this will pass with proper care.

In order to prevent sinus infections, you need to keep your sinus cavities open and drained so that the bacteria that cause the infections cannot accumulate there. Try an over the counter decongestant like sudafed. If your sinus problems may be allergy related, you need to start a daily antihistamine, like zyrtec, claritin, or allegra. If you keep up on both of these it will decrease the number or eliminate (for some people) the sinus infections you are getting.

Maybe you should try an allergist.I have a friend that was going through the same as you.She was having severe sinus trouble. This went on for almost a year. She tried so many antihistamines, antibiotics ,sprays and nothing. She was so tired of being sick that it even interfered with having sex with her husband.I told her to see an allergist being that I've always had allergies.I told her it seem to me that she had polyps in her nose.Sure enough they did a sonogram and they told her she had to have surgery to remove the polyps.Since the surgery she's been doing great. There's also some kit that they sell at the drugstore, what it does is that it cleans out your sinuses. It drains out the mold, the dust mites, etc. You can ask about it.I can't remember the name or brand right now, sorry.Take care and good luck.

I just did the dust mite thing. Wash all bedcovers that can be washed including blankets and mattress pads. Vacuum both sides of mattress and box springs, vacuum completely under bed and wipe with wet cloth all parts of bed and molding behind bed. For the first time I have not woken up with a stuffy nose and swollen puffy face.

Yes. Get a product called Immuno Start. You suck on one of them every hour on the hour when you feel it coming on. Then, it should take care of it. It's less expensive than Cigarettes in the long run.

Ask me for the link and I'll send it to you.

Your welcome.
