I am a white male/18. I am 25% French, 25% Polish and 50% British. I may also have some Scottish and Native American heritage. I have very thick hair. When I try to let it grow out it gets very curly (And poofy. Almost like an afro). What sort of hair styles can I have? I have kept it short for many years. I am considering growing it out. Can I? I have a friend that has long hair. He said that his air used to be like mine. He grew it out and it turned afro like. He said one day it just sorta fell down under its own wait and has been straight ever since.

If it's any help, I've been told that I have Native American hair and I have also been told that I have Viking hair.

Thanks!

Hair is very different for each of us. It sounds to me like you have thick hair and that it has curl. I suggest as you grow it out to limit the amount of "products" you put in your hair. Keep it clean and conditioned several times a week. That will control the poof factor. If you want to put a product in that will help it stay straight stick to things that have absolutely NO alchol in them! Thinning it a bit as it grows may help as well, if it gets very heavy in one area. I am sure your hair is healthy and nice and it will be fine whatever you choose to do. Remember to be you - not what is "popular". Have a great one.

It sounds beautiful. I think you should grow it out. What's wrong with afros anyway? I have one, and for years I was ashamed that people would tease me because of the poofiness and my wild curls. My friends would say, "Just let it go!" Finally I did, and now I get so many compliments. Your hair may fall under its weight like your friend's. It depends on how long and heavy your hair gets. You're young enough to experiment with different looks, so why not take advantage? Later in life you can cut it to look more "professional" and stay that way for the rest of time if you like. Enjoy who you are now. Good luck with the hair.

You can grow it out. You can you products that straighten you hair. Also, you could blow dry your hair straight. Use product like Freez-Eze to take the poof out of your hair. You might want to go to a cosmetologist instead of a barber for a hair cut. They can give you tips about growing your hair out.

I am female, but my hair is the same as your type. I use an electric flat iron to straighten it and now it looks great. Before, I had to wear it extremely short or else look like a frizzy monster.

you can straighten your hair. that might help it out. you can go to hair salon and do it or go to the store and get a perm kit hard to perm one and in sted of using curlers you put on the stuff and keep combing your hair straight. until time is up. it works and when you get out of the shower use hair dryer...... but remember your hair may get alittle bit lighter because of useing the perm stuff.
