my boyfriend's car (his being a rover metro) had the same problem, it would be ok, then it would just start overheating, and he'd have to stop and cool it down....it turned out he had a hole in one of the cooling pipes and this meant the system wasnt functioning properly...i dont know how much it cost to fix cause my dad sorted it out cause hes a mechanic....
i recommend getting out the yellow pages, finding reputable firms, and ringing round to see where you can get the best deal, but dont go ringing any cowboy mechanics, cause a peugeot 306 is a very nice car and you dont want any monkeys trying to fix it and rob you of your cash!!

Got a military friend stationed in Germany? Have them buy the parts for you. Peugeout is right up the road from main base in Germany.

The first thing to do is pull off the radiator cap and check the fluid level. If it's low you can get some more anti-freeze and some StopLeak and probably fix the problem. If it isn't low, or that doesn't fix it, take it to a mechanic.

Don't know unless you give more details.

Could be
1. simply low on coolant.
2. Stuck thermostat
3. Bad Water Pump
4. Blown Head Gasket.

Most of the answers giving to you are about what anyone will tell you BUT DO NOT use stop leak! Dont listen to anyone that tells you to use that crap. Just have the water pump, thermostat, head gasket, hoses, and coolant level checked.

You need to take it to a garage and have it looked at....could be a number of things, thermostat, water leak, head gasket, water pump impeller...dont go to a Peugeot dealer they will rip you off, any good garage will solve and fix it...cost wise ? depends on the job...hope this helps cheerio..

yes, probable causes -- blocked radiator ----air in the system ----the thin rubber pipe that leads from the header tank to the top of the engine could be blocked, remove one end and blow through it----and the worst case ! head gasket,i hope not. :)

Take it to a garage, or phone a mobile mechanic who will come to you. Your question is too unclear to warrant a straight answer, sorry.
