umm maybe a clown, thats all i can think of when someone says costume.

There are always costumes available. It's just a matter of which mas band you want. The more popular bands have either sold out or are limited in which costumes are still avail. There are a number of people however that have jumped ship and changed bands & have their initial pick up for sale. If you are looking to get into one of these bands (Harts, Tribe, Island People, etc) then you may want to consider hitting up the message boards where people are posting who wants to buy a costume.
Or you can go to the actual mas camp when you reach Trinidad & look and see who's selling. Usually people post on the wall what costume they are looking to get rid of. Good luck.

Speaking as a Trinidadian I can tell you that all the good costumes are sold out, that's if you wanted to be in a band with Destra or Marshell Montano, cause you know that those sections have to me the most fun.I play mas every year and I buy my costume around the same time in December and 85% of the really good costumes are gone. But I hope you find something to your liking.

It depends on what you're looking for. The major mas bands would most likely have sold out long ago. You may be lucky to get a costume from someone who changed their mind for some reason about playing mas and now wants to sell to get their money back. They can be found by networking with friends or just hanging out outside mas camps hoping to finds folks like your good self who want to get a costume at the last minute.
