Many people a lot of them do n't find out till it's too late.
Mine used to be 165/102 which is much too high,
with medication it is down to 151/75.
The top number should be approx 100 + your age...if this is too high there is a danger of strokes etc.
The bottom number should be 70-80....if this is constantly too high there is a risk of damage to the kidneys.
The top number can rise because you are say nervous about your doctor's appointment etc, it's best to get it checked over a period of time.

Blood pressure is dependant on many factors, but a rough guide for youngish people is 100+ your age over 80. This is a rough guide!, if you are 21 and your BP is 155/80 then there is something wrong, go and see a doctor. It is possible for a 60 year old person to have a BP of 120/80, if they look after them selves. I have just taken mine it is 130/80. I am older than 30.

When I first discovered my high B/P, it was 180/100. I was one of the lucky ones though. I drastically changed my diet, and am able to control it without medication. I monitor twice daily. My reading this morning was 116/70.
My diet changes consisted of cutting out all frozen and canned and processed foods. I stopped adding salt to my meals and added foods rich in potassium.

Why do you want to know? There are various factors to take into consideration if you are trying to work out if yours is normal. e.g. age, if pregnant, salt intake, caffeine intake, if you have just climbed the stirs . etc etc.
Mine is currenly around 123/80 on medication but was as high as 169/113 before .
