I guess it's supposed to be reviewed by the yahoo answers staff but sometimes, I think it's just automated. The silly violations I get and the reasons for them never make sense.

What happens to me when I report?

Nothing really.

At most I get one of two auto-generated emails thanking me and saying they'll look into it.

Why should anything happen to me? The people I report don't know it's me.

It's possible that, if I were to submit a lot of bogus reports that Yahoo might look into my account and consider suspending me.

Actually, I wish they did this (or, if they do this, did it more), as I've heard a lot about people abusing the Abuse Report system to harass other users.

Nothing. They send you an automated email letting you know that they received the abuse report.

You are abducted, taken to the utah high desert and forced to mountain bike for 2 days. Then they give you a tatoo of a sparrow and send you home.

Yahoo sends you an email saying they will look into it. That's it.

They get an email telling them and they are allowed to protest it.
